THE COMMITTEES
1. THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The committee comprises of the KMS Patron, KMS officials, distinguished members of the Society elected at the AGM and nominated representative from corporate members. The committee is the highest decision making organ of the Society. It meets quarterly (3 months) to ratify major decisions made by the other committees and review the general affairs of the Society.
2. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
It’s comprised of elected KMS officials at the AGM. The functions of this committee are;
- Provide guidance to ensure smooth running of the day-to-day operations of the Secretariat;
- Implement the resolutions of the Executive Committee;
- Continuously engage in recruitment of new members and renewal of annual subscription drive of existing members;
- Implement activities that lead to financial stability and growth as approved by the Executive Committee;
- Promote the reputation of the Society through new and existing networks.
3. KMS BULLETIN COMMITTEE
The functions of this Committee are;
- Sourcing for articles for publication;
- Preparation of the KMS Bulletin;
- Preparation of public awareness brochures and leaflets.
4. JOURNAL COMMITTEE
The functions of this Committee are;
- Sourcing for articles for publication;
- Preparation and publication of the KMS Journal.
5. NATIONAL WORKSHOP ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
The functions of this Committee are;
- Organizing the KMS national workshops;
- Organizing seminars including public awareness forums.
6. PROFESSIONAL ACCREDITATION COMMITTEE
The functions of this Committee are;
- Vet prospective professionals and firms for accreditation to KMS;
- Keep a register of accredited consulting meteorologists;
- Keep a register of meteorological consulting firms;
- Ensure observance of Code of Ethics and Conduct by members of the Society to enhance the reputation of the Society.
7. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
The functions of this Committee are;
- Coordinating Research and Development activities
- Vetting of research proposals and papers for enhancing professionalism.
- Sourcing for funded and contracted Research.
- Monitoring and evaluation of funded research projects.
8. PROCUREMENT COMMITTEE
The functions of this Committee are;
- Preside-over procurement process;
- Ensure that the procurement process is carried out according to the policy of the Society;
- Advice Management Committee on the procurement of goods and services as need arises.
9.0 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
The functions of this Committee are;
- Organizing International Biennial KMS conferences;
- Scientific vetting of presentations.
10.0 DEVOLUTION COMMITTEE
The functions of this Committee are;
