About Us
The Kenya Meteorological Society
(KMS) is a Non Profit Professional Scientific Society. The Society was registered in the year 1987 with the main objective of promoting understanding and application of the Science of Meteorology and other related sciences for sustainable socio-economic development. The Society does this by encouraging operational research in Meteorology and dissemination of research findings in the profession.
Currently the KMS consists of 400 individual members cutting across various sectors. The membership varies enormously in terms of their size and composition (proportion of academics, professionals and amateurs). In addition to the Member Societies, there are Associate Members drawn from international organisations, national meteorological and hydrological services, meteorological service providers, education and research institutions.

The strategic objectives define how the Society will achieve its mission within the framework of its constitution. The Society’s strategic plan is centred on FOUR strategic objectives.
